THE MULTIPLICATION SONG

Sung to the tune of "It Isn't Any Trouble Just to SMILE"
This is pretty long as it covers 1's through 9's. I give each student a copy of the words, sing it all the way through, then focus on one verse at a time until those facts are mastered, then move on the next verse, etc.

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by one
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by one
If ever you are on this quest
Just cover 1 and say what's left
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by one

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by two
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by two
If ever you're in trouble
It will vanish like a bubble
Cover 2 then say the double
When you multiply by two

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by three
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by three
Just cover 3, the double say
Then add what's left; You're on your way
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by three

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by four
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by four
You know your 3's, now say that fact
And add the number, you're on track
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by four

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by five
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by five
Just cover 5, put up your fingers
Count by fives, don't let it linger
Now you have your answer when you multiply by fives

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by six
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by six
Just follow rules for doing fives
Add the other number; you're alive
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by six

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by seven
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by seven
Now take a break and chant with me,
The only ones we need are three
So let's commite to memory(stop and chant)
7x7 is 49
7x8 is 56
7x9 is 63
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by seven

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by eight
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by eight
8x8 is 64 and 8x9 is 72
And that is all you have to do
To multiply by eight

It isn't any trouble just to multiply by nine
It isn't any trouble just to multiply by nine
You only have one fact to learn-that's 9x9 is 81
And now your 1's through 9's are done,
So S M I L E!

(words by Guinn Hodgson)
